Upcoming due dates before the Winter Break:

You should be done reading the entire novel, Speak, on Monday, December 11. That will enable you to successfully complete the end-of-unit assessment before the break.

Green sheets tracking "Signs of a Struggling Teen" for Melinda are due at the END of class on Tuesday, December 12. Turn them in to the basket. Your work should be your own, and NOT identical to anyone else's paper. Copying will result in a zero grade without chance of replacement.

DUE Thursday, December 14, PRINTED before class and ready to hand in when you walk in the door: Parts 1 and 2 of your final assessment for this unit. The directions are on the left side of the blog (introduced on Dec. 4). You will have one full 90 min. period to work on these in class (and to peer edit!), but you are expected to complete them as homework, as needed.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: your Ender's Game essay is due TOMORROW, 11-28, (printed hardcopy, double spaced) at the beginning of class. You must also upload a copy of your essay to turnitin.com.

We are turning in our Ender's Game novels on Tuesday. If you don't return it, you cannot check out the next novel we are reading and you will be behind in classwork. Please remember your books! Those of you who read Ender's Shadow, please return the books to me, not the library.

Don't forget you can revise your Romeo and Juliet final essay for a new grade! Preferred deadline: Nov. 9 (I will accept them up through Friday, Nov. 17).

Keep reading (see schedule in older posts) and marking examples of manipulation. We will add our  second set of  4 "best quotes" on this idea in class on Tuesday in your journals.

Tuesday, October 31, 2017

For THURSDAY, Nov. 2, make sure you have read through chapter 9. The in-class activities center around your knowledge of that chapter.

You should have TWO completed paragraphs in your journal (Peter's manipulation, the manipulation of adults), as well as short summaries (bullet points are fine) of Chapters 1-7.

Missed class? Be sure to be checking out the information listed at the side of the blog (remember, on your phone you need to scroll to the bottom and click "View Web Version" to see the resources).
